John Bielecki, MD, MPH  JOHN BIELECKI, MD, MPH, Medical Director

Dr. Bielecki is a graduate of Tufts University, where he received a B.S. in Civil engineering. Early work included structural design in both the pulp and paper and hydroelectric sections of a consulting firm in Boston. Following this, he spent time in Zaire as a Peace Corps volunteer, before returning to the U.S. to continue work in design and construction management.

Dr.Bielecki worked for two years as Director of Plant Operations at Houlton Regional Hospital in northern Maine, while completing undergraduate coursework for medical school.

He is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine and completed a residency in Family Practice at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Dr. Bielecki is board certified in both Family Practice and Occupational Medicine, and holds a Masters Degree in Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is also a certified Medical Review Officer for drug and alcohol testing.

Dr. Bielecki's interest and early experience in occupational medicine came when he worked as a family practitioner in Aroostock County. He began full time work in occupational medicine at Waterville's Mid Maine Medical Center in 1989, as medical director of Workplace Health Services. He continues to serve as Medical Director of Workplace Health at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and Waterville, and also for the Medical Department for Sappi Fine Paper's Somerset plant.

Dr. Bielecki is a founding member of the Maine Institute for Occupational Health Education, and serves on the advisory board of the Harvard Educational Resource Center, Harvard School of Public Health.
